President Nelson's Action Items from October 2021 General Conference

Pres. Nelson gave us many things to act on during the past conference. It is difficult to differentiate between specific invitations and action-blessing pairs so they are all included below from his three talks given.

The language he used didn't always fit into a nice "do this, get that" pair so I edited quotes a little to fit into the mechanics of this academic exercise. However as much as possible, I preserved the the direct quotes from his talks. Underlines have been added for emphasis also.

Pure Truth, Pure Doctrine, and Pure Revelation

do - "I invite you to listen for three things during this conference: pure truth, the pure doctrine of Christ, and pure revelation."

get - The Pure Doctrine of Christ "changes the life of everyone who understands it and seeks to implement it in his or her life." and in turn it will "qualify us to receive all that God has."

do - "If you have not yet sought for the ministering of the Holy Ghost to help you hear what the Lord would have you hear during these two days, I invite you to do so now. Please make this conference a time of feasting on messages from the Lord through His servants. Learn how to apply them in your life."

get - "Pure revelation for the questions in your heart will make this conference rewarding and unforgettable."

The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation

do - "it is now time that we each implement extraordinary measures—perhaps measures we have never taken before—to strengthen our personal spiritual foundations. ...have a firm spiritual foundation built upon the rock of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ."

get - [temple covenants] "increases our understanding of Jesus Christ. His essential ordinances bind us to Him through sacred priesthood covenants. Then, as we keep our covenants, He endows us with His healing, strengthening power."

do - "build their foundations upon Jesus Christ, and have learned how to draw upon His power"

get - "need not succumb to the unique anxieties of this era."

do - "make covenants with God and keep them ... the same covenants with God that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob made."

get - We become " children of the covenant ... And we can receive the same blessings!"

do - "Bring your temple recommend, a contrite heart, and a seeking mind to the Lord’s house of learning" or if circumstances prevent attendance, "set a regular time to rehearse in your mind the covenants you have made."

get - "He is providing opportunities for each of us to bolster our spiritual foundations more effectively by centering our lives on Him and on the ordinances and covenants of His temple. ...He will teach you."

do - "Go more often [to the temple]" and "Let the Lord, through His Spirit, teach and inspire you there."

get - "the temple will become a place of safety, solace, and revelation."

do - "Seek a companion with whom you can be sealed in the temple." ... "Marry in the temple and return repeatedly"

get - "it will make all the difference! ... You will be strengthened and guided in your decisions."

do - "take the necessary steps to receive that crowning, life-changing ordinance [to be sealed in the temple].

get - "to progress forever and be together forever."

do - "not to wait until marriage to be endowed in the house of the Lord. Begin now to learn and experience what it means to be armed with priesthood power."

get - ?

do - "seek—prayerfully and consistently—to understand temple covenants and ordinances."

get - "Spiritual doors will open. You will learn how to part the veil between heaven and earth, how to ask for God’s angels to attend you, and how better to receive direction from heaven. Your diligent efforts to do so will reinforce and strengthen your spiritual foundation."

do - "[Live] inside your temple covenants!"

get - "Safest place to be spiritually ", "whenever any kind of upheaval occurs in your life"

do - "spiritual foundation is built solidly upon Jesus Christ"

get - "you have no need to fear."

do - "As you are true to your covenants made in the temple"

get - "you will be strengthened by His power. Then, when spiritual earthquakes occur, you will be able to stand strong because your spiritual foundation is solid and immovable."

Make Time for the Lord

do - "making time for the Lord in your life—each and every day."

get - "counter the lure of the world" "avoid the inevitable heartbreak that follows" "The voices and pressures of the world are engaging and numerous. But too many voices are deceptive, seductive, and can pull us off the covenant path."

do - "seeking the Lord through daily prayer and gospel study"

get - To prevent "your ability to hear the whisperings of the Spirit will be diminished." Not "leave yourself vulnerable to philosophies that may be intriguing but are not true." And Not "be derailed by the steady beat of Babylon’s band."

do - "make time for the Lord!" "by doing those things that allow the Holy Ghost to be with you always."

get - "Make your own spiritual foundation firm and able to stand the test of time" (from 2 Ne 32:5 "and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.")

do - "fixing your focus on Jesus Christ. Talk of Christ, rejoice in Christ, feast upon the words of Christ, and press forward with steadfastness in Christ. Make your Sabbath a delight as you worship Him, partake of the sacrament, and keep His day holy."

get - "invites the Spirit more [than anything]"

do - "make time for the Lord in His holy house."

get - "Nothing will strengthen your spiritual foundation like temple service and temple worship."

do - "you will make time for Him in your life—each and every day."

get - "He will lead and guide you in your personal life"
